FAQ
Q: What is Ethos?
A: Ethos is the new general education curriculum at LaGrange College.
Q: To which students does it apply?
A: To all first-year and transfer students who come to the college in the Fall 2018 semester.
Q: What does this have to do with faculty?
A: If you taught in the Core Curriculum and plan to continue to teach in the general education OR you advise students for a major or minor program, Ethos should be one of your concerns.
Q: Is the general education course I teach already included in Ethos?
A: Yes, for now. For two years, until Fall 2020, all courses that were included in the Core Curriculum were grandfathered into the Ethos curriculum. But, at the start of the Fall 2020 term, their eligibility expires unless proposed and accepted by the Ethos Council for inclusion in the Ethos Curriculum.
Q: How can the course I teach be approved for Ethos?
A: The Ethos Course application is available at https://lagrange.libguides.com/ethos/course_proposal
Q: Which portfolio artifacts must transfer students submit?
A: If the student transfers in with enough credit hours to waive the general education requirement, then he/she is not required to submit any entries. If the student has transfer or AP credit for a course that counts in the Ethos curriculum and that contains the signature assessment , the requirement for that artifact is waived.
