This page, added in September 2019, just provides links to some of the electronic resources mentioned in the library instruction session.

 

Online catalog (to find books and e-books)

 

Library of Congress classification for books on the U.S. (E-F)

 

Gale Virtual Reference Library (PDF for several multi-volume reference books, including Dictionary of American History, Women in American History, Encyclopedia of Latin American History and Culture 2008 edition, and the Encyclopedia of Popular Culture, 2013 edition).

 

 

Databases:

America: History & Life

 

JSTOR (use quotation marks for phrases, e.g. “great plains,” “dust bowl”

 

I recommend trying the two databases above first.  Other possibilities:

 

Use the Reference library guide if you want to review Boolean operators and the basics of database searching (or see the reference librarian).
