Wesleyana

Methodist and Wesleyana Collections

LaGrange College has extensive holdings relating to Methodism in Georgia as well as historic artifacts such as etchings, books and memorabilia focusing on the life of John Wesley.  As a Methodist institution these historical documents provide insight into the origins not only of LaGrange College, but of other Methodist colleges.

Dr. Harold Lawrence Methodist Collection

Dr. Harold Lawrence, retired pastor at First Methodist Church in LaGrange, donated his extensive Methodist collection to LaGrange College in 2015.  It contains numerous rare books, historic minutes, photographs, journals, microfilm and artifacts pertaining mostly to Georgia Methodism history.  Dr. Lawrence's collection contains extensive primary sources and is a gold mine for anyone wishing to do research into Georgia Methodism.   See the Finding Aids tab for his complete inventory or scroll down to the bottom of the page.

The Reverend Max Caylor and the Reverend Carl Dodds Wesleyana Collections

In 2012 LaGrange College received the Wesleyana Collection from the Reverend Max Caylor, a 1975 LaGrange College alumnus. His donation to the College contains some wonderful artifacts and publications.  See the Finding Aid below.  The College also has the  Carl J. Dodds Wesleyana Collection in our archives which focuses more on art work related to John Wesley.  See the Finding Aid below.
